Click here to watch a short video clip about the boat!

Choosing a boat in which to film a television series like the New Jersey Angler Video Magazine is a daunting task. If we undergun ourselves, our weather window for filming becomes very tight and we’re unable to bring New Jersey’s fine offshore fishing action to our viewers. If we go too big, back bay and skinny water episodes become clumsy, if not impossible. In addition, the perfect television boat must exhibit a soft and very dry ride in a variety of sea conditions (cameras and saltwater don’t mix), provide a stable drift (so viewers don’t first require a dose of Dramamine), and be able to get to the fishing grounds quickly and efficiently (time is money and fuel is expensive!).

Use of onboard space is also a major consideration. The cockpit needs to be spacious so that two anglers and a camera crew can work unimpeded, and adequate dry storage must exist so that cameras and other electronic equipment can be stowed confidently. Large livewells, cavernous fish boxes, and substantial tackle storage must abound.

As it turns out, rod storage is one of the most significant requirements for a television boat. Contrary to what viewers are often led to believe, fishing trips don’t always turn out as planned. We’ve had trolling shows turn into shark shows, fluke shows turn into wreck fishing shows, and striper shows turn into weakfish shows. In order to be prepared for whatever Mother Nature give us, we need to be able to stow a wide selection of rods, tackle and equipment without it getting in the way of what we’re doing.

Additionally, the boat must be among the most attractive on the water. Our hosts may not have “movie star” good looks (that's debatable, of course), but at least our boat should!

Finally, the local dealer must be easy to work with, flexible, talented, and unwavering in their commitment to quality and service. In the event of a problem, a solution must be found quickly and downtime minimized. The New Jersey fishing season is shorter than it seems!

Perhaps not surprisingly, the requirements for a television boat are the very same features that most anglers desire in their personal boats. This makes our new NorthCoast 26 Center Console a fantastic choice for many anglers throughout the Northeast.

About NorthCoast Boats

C&C Marine Inc., builders of NorthCoast Boats, is located in the Mecca of quality boat building - Bristol, RI. Their boats are designed specifically to handle rough, choppy sea conditions that are typical throughout the Northeast. NorthCoast boats are semi-custom, meaning that each new owner has the ability to specify options that can be built in during the manufacturing process. Jose DaPonte, the President and owner of C&C Marine, has been building quality boats since the early 1970's. He has worked with some of the best boat builders over the years and is now regarded as one of the foremost authorities in composite boat building and tool making. He is personally involved with the construction of every boat built.

In addition to the 26 Center Console, North Coast builds a variety of models ranging from 18 to 31 feet, including center consoles, express models and pilot house boats.

Riverfont Marina, located on the Metedeconk River in Brick is the only NorthCoast dealer in New Jersey. They are also a certified repair facility for Mercury, Evinrude and Suzuki outboards, so your new boat can be ordered with a wide selection of power plants.

Performance and Specifications

Our NorthCoast 26 Center Console is one of the highest performers in its class. Powered by twin 250hp Mercury Verados, the boat can reach 55 mph at full throttle. Its hole shot is virtually immediate and acceleration and cornering are scary-tight.

Even more impressive to us is that she cruises comfortably (soft and dry) in typical ocean conditions at 32 knots, while turning 4500 rpms and burning only 8 gph per engine. To put this in perspective, we can run from our dock at South Jersey Marina to the tuna grounds 40 nautical miles south of Cape May, troll all day, and make it back to the dock on less than 45 gallons. In this day and age, numbers like this are more important than ever. Fuel capacity is 200 gallons, giving us the ability to do a canyon troll and return to the dock with 1/3rd tank reserve.

The deadrise on this boat is a sharp 24 degrees, which gives it the ability to run softly in many sea conditions. The beam is 9’-1” and the draft is 17”. With a dry weight of 4,800 lbs., it is recommended to run a pair of 250-hp outboards.

Features

Our NorthCoast 26 Center Console is equipped with a large console with encloses a cavernous, stand-up head. A custom hard-top and curtains provide adequate protection from the elements, as well as a place to mount our radar dome, dual VHF antennas, and a pair of Rupp Outriggers, along with 5 rocket launchers for additional rod storage.

The leaning post sports a huge lockable tackle storage center, which is an absolute joy (we don’t know how we ever existed without this), as well as 4 rocket launchers. There is forward seating (ideal for family outings) and combing pads throughout the entire boat.

The 91-gallon, lighted, air-infused, macerated in-deck livewell is large enough to keep an entire cast net full of adult bunker alive all day, and we still haven’t been able to fill the gigantic in-deck fishbox.

Of course, the fit-and-finish on this boat is excellent, and reflects the commitment to quality for which C&C Marine is known. The boat contains all stainless hardware throughout, recessed cleats, low-profile handrails, two-tone non-skid decking, and the wiring is truly top-notch.

We’ve often said that a good boat is one that washes down easily, and this boat is no exception. That’s a great feature, because in this boat bloody washdowns are certainly no exception, either!

To learn more about our NorthCoast 26 Center Console or any boat in the NorthCoast lineup, visit Riverfront Marina in Brick, NJ. Or, feel free to stop by South Jersey Marina and check out our boat at dock C-17 (down the end, just before the little Rt. 109 bridge). Just be courteous, as our dockmates like to do a lot of snoozing between tuna trips.
